Non-surgical spinal decompression in Round Rock
A motorized table gently stretches the spine in cycles. We use it as one part of a plan, only when your exam shows it may suit you.
What is non-surgical spinal decompression?
Non-surgical spinal decompression uses a motorized table to gently stretch the spine in cycles. It is used for disc-related back, neck, and leg pain. Research on how well it works is still limited, so we use it as one part of a plan and only after an exam shows it may suit you.
What a session is like
In a session, a motorized table slowly stretches and relaxes the spine in cycles. Most people describe a gentle pull rather than pain.
Who it may suit
Decompression is mostly used for pain linked to a bulging or herniated disc, sciatica from a disc, or pain that has not eased with other conservative care. We decide with you after your exam and, if needed, digital X-rays.
How many sessions
Plans vary with your condition and how you respond. We review your progress as we go. If you are not improving, we change the plan or refer you.
What the research says
The evidence for decompression is not settled. A systematic review of motorized traction for chronic disc-related low back pain called the evidence unproven, and some studies were small or had weak designs. Some patients report feeling better. We tell you this at your visit and do not promise an outcome.
Decompression is not for everyone
We do not use it, or we check with your doctor first, if you have:
- A spinal fracture or severe osteoporosis
- Pregnancy
- A spinal infection or tumor
- Certain spinal implants or recent spinal surgery
- Loss of bladder or bowel control, or fast-worsening leg weakness (go to an ER)

Common questions
Is spinal decompression painful?
Most people describe a gentle stretch. Tell us right away if anything feels wrong and we stop the session.
Does decompression cure a herniated disc?
We cannot promise that. Many disc problems improve with time and conservative care. Decompression may be one part of a plan, and we review whether it is helping.
What does it cost?
Prices are clear and upfront. Start with the $49 New Patient Special so we can examine you and see whether decompression makes sense.
Is decompression the same as surgery?
No. It is non-surgical. If your exam shows signs that need surgical or medical care, we refer you.
