Posture correction for desk workers in Round Rock

Rounded shoulders, a forward head and a tired lower back are common after years at a desk. A plan with small daily habits works better than a single visit.

Can a chiropractor fix bad posture?

A chiropractor can assess your posture, find tight or weak areas and give you exercises to improve it. Posture changes take weeks of practice, and no single adjustment fixes it. At Lakeside Spine & Wellness we measure how you stand and sit, set a goal with you and check your progress at each visit.

What poor posture looks like

  • Head that sits forward of your shoulders
  • Shoulders that round forward
  • A lower back that slumps when you sit
  • Neck, upper back or hip tightness by evening

A review of studies found forward head posture is linked with neck pain in adults. Because those studies look at one point in time, they cannot show that posture causes the pain. We focus on what helps you feel better and move well, not on a perfect shape.

What corrective care involves

Corrective care means the habits and exercises that retrain how you hold and move your body. We assess your posture, check the joints and muscles that limit you, and teach a short routine you can do at home. Adjustments can help joints move more freely so the exercises are easier to do.

A desk setup that helps

  • Put the top of your screen at about eye level
  • Keep your feet flat and your hips and knees near a right angle
  • Support your lower back with the chair or a small cushion
  • Stand up and move for a minute every 30 to 60 minutes
  • Hold your phone higher instead of looking down at it

A note on spine curves

If you or your child has a visible side-to-side curve in the spine or one shoulder blade sticking out, ask us or your doctor to check for scoliosis.

  • We tell you if you need a doctor or imaging first
  • Early checks are simple and quick

Common questions

How long does it take to improve posture?

Most people notice small changes in a few weeks when they practice daily. Lasting change takes longer and depends on your work and habits.

Do I need X-rays for posture?

Not always. We decide after an exam. If X-rays would change your plan, we explain why first.

Will a posture brace help?

Braces can remind you to sit tall, but they do not replace strengthening and movement. We can talk through whether one suits you.
