Gentle chiropractic adjustments and corrective care
Adjustments plus home exercises and habit changes, matched to what suits you.
What does a chiropractic adjustment do?
An adjustment is a quick, controlled movement applied to a joint of the spine to improve how it moves and ease pain. Some people notice short-term improvement in back or neck pain, and the evidence is rated low quality. We use gentle techniques, and you can tell us what feels comfortable.
How adjustments work
- Adjustments by hand, using a quick, controlled movement
- Soft-tissue work for tight muscles around the spine
You choose. If a technique does not feel right, say so and we change it.
Corrective care
An adjustment alone rarely solves the cause of ongoing pain. Corrective care adds exercises for the muscles that support your spine, posture work and changes to how you sit, lift, and sleep. You learn a short home routine, and we update it as you improve.
Safety and side effects
Some people feel mild soreness after an adjustment, like after a new workout. The NHS says chiropractic care may not be safe if you take blood thinners, are at higher risk of stroke or bleeding, have severely weakened bones, or have a nerve condition. We review your history and exam before every adjustment, and we do not adjust areas that are unsafe for you.
When we do not adjust
We may hold off on adjustments, or send you to a doctor first, if you have:
- Blood thinning medicine, or a higher risk of bleeding or stroke
- Severely weakened or seriously damaged bones or joints, or a suspected fracture
- A nerve condition such as peripheral neuropathy, or signs of nerve compression
- Unexplained numbness, weakness or fever with pain
- Symptoms after a serious injury that have not been checked

Common questions
Why does the joint pop?
The popping sound is gas moving within the joint fluid. It is not bones grinding, and not every adjustment makes a sound.
Can I be adjusted without twisting or popping?
Tell us what you prefer. We use gentle techniques and can change how we work to suit you.
How often will I need adjustments?
It depends on your condition. We explain what we expect and review it with you as you improve.
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy or for older adults?
It depends on your health history. We examine you first and may check with your doctor before we treat.
