Headache and migraine care in Round Rock
If your headaches start in your neck or come with tight shoulders, we can look at the cause with you. We tell you plainly what chiropractic can and cannot do.

Can a chiropractor help with migraines or headaches?
It may help some people, mainly those with tension-type or neck-related (cervicogenic) headaches. Research on chiropractic care for migraine itself is limited and mixed, so we do not promise results. We check your neck and posture, look for triggers, and refer you to a doctor if your headaches need medical care.
Types of headache we see
Not all headaches start in the same place. Tension-type headaches feel like a tight band around the head. Neck-related headaches start at the base of the skull and often come with a stiff neck. Migraines often bring throbbing pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light, and they need a medical diagnosis.
How we approach headaches
We ask about when your headaches start, how long they last and what sets them off. We check your neck movement, posture, and the muscles around your head and shoulders. Care, when it fits, is gentle: adjustments, soft-tissue work, posture exercises and changes to your workstation.
We also suggest keeping a simple headache diary. It helps you and your doctor spot triggers such as poor sleep, skipped meals or long screen time.
What the research says
A 2025 systematic review of trials of chiropractic spinal manipulation for headaches found the evidence uncertain and rated its certainty very low. Of five trials against sham treatment, two found fewer headache days, and other comparisons showed no clear benefit. That is why we set small goals with you and review them quickly. If care is not helping, we say so.
Get medical care first if you have any of these
The NHS says to get emergency help for any of these:
- A headache that starts suddenly and is extremely painful
- A head injury within the last 3 months
- Numbness or weakness in the body or face, or loss of vision
- Difficulty speaking, balancing, walking or remembering things, or feeling drowsy or confused
- A very high temperature with a stiff neck, or bright lights bothering you
- A seizure
The NHS also advises an urgent doctor's appointment for a headache with vomiting, or one triggered or made worse by coughing, sneezing, bending, or exercise.

Common questions
Will chiropractic care cure my migraines?
No. We do not promise cures. Migraine is a medical condition, and your doctor should guide its treatment. We can help with neck tension that may add to your headaches.
How do I know if my headache is neck-related?
Neck-related headaches often start at the back of the head, come with a stiff neck and feel worse with certain head movements. An exam is the way to find out.
Should I stop my headache medicine?
No. Keep taking what your doctor prescribed. Tell us what you take so we can plan around it.
